Shelley Ducker provides public relations and communications support for the Coalition of Wound Care Manufacturers. She founded and runs Shelley Ducker Communications, a strategic communications consultancy assisting health care, trade association and nonprofit clients. Prior to launching Shelley Ducker Communications, Shelley was director of communications at the Consumer Healthcare Products Association and the CHPA Educational Foundation, leading many of the association's consumer education and health advocacy campaigns such as Know Your Dose (acetaminophen safe use), Up and Away and Out of Sight (safe medicine storage), and Treat with Care (appropriate use of over-the-counter medicines in young children). Shelley was previously associate director of communications at molecular diagnostics company QIAGEN, where she led consumer health communications, advocacy-building, social media community building and public relations/media relations initiatives focused on cervical cancer prevention and human papillomavirus (HPV) testing. While living the good life out on the West Coast earlier in her career, Shelley directed corporate communications at biotechnology companies Genentech and Chiron, with experience leading strategic communications to support clinical trials, scientific publications, FDA advisory committee reviews, product approvals, and commercial launches. A former reporter with pharmaceutical industry newsletter The Pink Sheet, Shelley has written about a broad range of issues ranging from FDA policy and enforcement, drug advertising and promotion campaigns, FDA reform, and more. Shelley began her career in the healthcare practice arms of public relations agencies APCO Worldwide and GTFH Public Relations. She is a graduate of Columbia University in New York City and has a passion for travel. Her wanderlust has taken her to more than 80 countries to date.
